About this paper
Copperplate practice paper
Copperplate is written with a flexible pointed nib on a steep slant, often in an oblique pen holder. These sheets give each row an ascender space and a descender space 1.5 times the x-height, a 3:2:3 proportion, with a dashed waistline and a bold baseline.
Slant lines run at 55° from horizontal, the traditional copperplate angle; Spencerian and many modern scripts use about 52°. A 5 mm x-height is a good size for practice; go smaller once your strokes are steady.
